That’s a great question! So, I often disagree with how it’s used in HCI (including how I’ve used it), as in it’s the go-to reference for summarising themes in data (‘codebook’ or ‘framework’ approach). It’s further complicated by the fact that many good examples in HCI are really social psychology contributions to HCI.
